Henry County Habitat for Humanity is operated by the support of volunteer committees. The committees are typically comprised of volunteers that have experience and a background in their various fields with respect to the tasks the committees perform. All of Henry County Habitat for Humanity’s committees work together to support our mission to help more families in Henry County obtain simple, decent and affordable housing. The Board is looking for a person(s) to be a part of these endeavors on a committee (descriptions below) of your choice. If you’re interested in joining our team, please send an email to [email protected] or call Lisa Diener, 319-931-0656.
The Family Sponsor
Committee works with homeowner families throughout
the process of preparing to build, building, moving in and continuing to be
involved in the ongoing work of the affiliate. This committee also provides
education for homeowner families as needed and meets with the family if issues
arise.
The Fund Raising Committee coordinates the
raising of funds needed to conduct the business of the organization. Its tasks
include fund raising campaigns, grant proposal writing, special fund raising
events, and cultivation of major donors.
The Church Relations Committee is responsible for expanding the number of Henry County churches involved in supporting the local ministry of Habitat while increasing the involvement of churches already engaged. This committee also strives to maintain Habitat’s focus in witnessing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the communities of our county.
The Public Relations Committee
informs the public regarding the mission and purposes of the organization, and the
need for better and more affordable housing in certain areas. Tasks include public speaking, communicating
with the news media, maintaining the local website, organizing groundbreaking
and dedication ceremonies, and publishing a couple of brochures a year.
